Former Avon Old Farms Pitcher Hits Milestone

Ryan Grant has recorded 20 saves on the Wheaton baseball team.

People are taking notice of one former Avon Old Farms School pitcher this season at Wheaton College.

Easton resident Ryan Grant, who attended Avon Old Farms one year in high school and is a sophomore at Wheaton, has notched 20 saves on the college's baseball team, according to Enterprisenews.com.

Making the last five outs happen, Grant secured his Lyons the 6-2 lead over Bridgewater in the first round of NCAA Division 3 New England Regional tournament, the website reported.

During his time at Avon Old Farms, Grant was also a noted pitcher. In a May 12, 2010 game against Deerfield, he helped his team close with a 4-3 win after striking out 9 batters in just under six innings, according to the all-boys private school website.
