School Employees Needn't Report to Work Monday Unless Told Otherwise

School officials announced Sunday afternoon that school will be canceled Monday.

Avon Public Schools staff members were instructed not to report to work Monday "unless called by the superintendent or his designee," according to an alert sent out to the district.

District officials announced early Sunday afternoon that schools would be closed on Monday in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy. They will assess the weather scenario Monday afternoon and evaluate whether to cancel school on Tuesday.

Correction: This article originally stated that Avon Public Schools staff members do not need to report to work Monday unless they were called by the superintendent. To clarify, all staff members were told not to report to work unless they receive a call from the "superintendent or his designee."
