Accomplishment: Avon resident Sarah Purple was one of six Northwest Catholic seniors who Dale R. Hoyt, superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese of Hartford, named Summa Scholars for academic achievement. The award is new and was given to seniors from four Catholic high schools under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Hartford. She received a bronze medallion engraved with her name.

Key to awesomeness: Purple maintained a grade point average at or higher than 4.3, or 98 percent, in her first senior semester, which was a requirement for award eligibility.
