Proposed Avon School Budget: Public Invited to Ask Questions, Give Feedback

The Avon Board of Education is in the process of reviewing the superintendent's $50.3 million gross budget proposal.

The public is invited to a community input session Thursday night to provide feedback and ask questions about the superintendent's proposed $50.3 million gross 2013-14 operating budget.

Avon Superintendent Gary Mala presented the proposal to the Board of Education last week.

The special school board meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Avon High School community room at 510 West Avon Rd.

Here are some future budget-related school board meetings you may want to mark on your calendars:

  • Dec. 3, 6 p.m.: Second community input session at the high school community room.
  • Dec. 3, 7 p.m.: The second school board budget workshop will immediately follow the public input session. The discussion will focus on the proposed Pine Grove School, Roaring Brook School, Thompson Brook School, Avon Middle School, Avon High School, athletics and technology budgets for the next fiscal year. The meeting is also in the community room.
  • Dec. 18, 7 p.m.: The next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting is the earliest that the board may vote on the superintendent's proposed 2013-14 school budget, according to Chairperson Peggy Roell. The meeting will be held in the high school community room.
