School Board Unanimously Approves $50.8 Million Gross Budget

Request moves on to the town council.

The Board of Education unanimously approved Superintendent Gary Mala's requested $50.8 million budget as is Tuesday night.

That is the same figure he proposed for the 2012-13 fiscal year at the Nov. 29 Board of Education special meeting.

Discussion pertaining to Mala's first Avon school budget recommendation was short Tuesday, more or less limited to the motion and vote. The school board previously held a community input session, as well as two workshops.

This year, the budget is being reported in gross instead of net as it has been in past years.

The board will submit the request to Town Manager Brandon Robertson for review. He will present it to the town council at its winter budget workshop at the same time he recommends the town side of the budget.

Once the town council makes a recommendation for the town portion of the budget, both parts will be passed on to the Board of Finance for review.

More information is available on the Avon Public Schools website. Mala's original presentation to the board and budget packet is attached to this article.
