Thirteen is a lucky number for Avon High, which U.S. News & World Report just ranked as the 13th best high school in the state of Connecticut.
Earning a silver medal, the 1,079-student high school also ranked 510 nationwide, www.usnews.com announced Tuesday.
Avon High showed 96 percent for students' math and reading proficiency on AP tests and about 49 percent of students take AP courses, according to www.usnews.com. Avon scored 45.2 on the College Readiness Index, the news outlet reported.
