VIDEO: Injured Teen Who Missed Graduation Receives Diploma

After his brother, Jeremy accepted his Avon High School diploma on his behalf on June 15, Todd Slater walked on his own June 26 to get it in person.

Todd Slater, 18, may not have walked at the Class of 2012 , but that did not stop the school board from giving him his diploma in person.

In front of a small crowd of family, peers and school officials Tuesday, Slater came to the special Board of Education meeting at the central office building in full blue cap and gown apparel to receive his diploma.

His younger brother, Jeremy, 15, accepted it on his behalf at the graduation ceremony on June 15 while he was recovering from serious injuries due to a on June 11.
