Wrestler Egan Kennedy Takes Second at New Englands

The Avon Old Farms wrestling team finished fifth overall Feb. 18.

Six Avon Old Farms School wrestlers have received All New England honors, according to the all-boy private school's website.

After winning the Western New England Tournament a week ago, the first title the team has claimed in 25 years, the team went on to place fifth at the New England Tournament on Feb. 18, the Avon Old Farms website states, besting its 15th-place finish from the year before.

Avon Old Farms junior Egan Kennedy (Longmeadow, MA) claimed second place in the 285-pound weight class, junior Joseph Creen (Old Greenwich) and post grad Carmine Magnoli (Weston) took fifth in the 106-pound and 182-pound weight classes, respectively, junior Vincent DeBlasio (132), of Greensburg, PA, came in sixth, sophomore Janos Lobb (126), of Oxford, finished seventh and freshman Steven Guglielmo (113), of Avon, came in eighth, according to the website.

The six All New England qualifiers are slated to compete at the Prep Nationals Tournament at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania this weekend, the Old Farms website reported.
