Avon 10-11 Little League All Stars Host District 6 Finals Friday

The championships will be played at 5:30 p.m. at Sperry Park.

Many players on Avon's 10-11 Little League All Stars will attempt a second consecutive District 6 title Friday, as the team hosts the championships on its home field.

Last year, several of the boys were in the 9-10 age bracket and won districts for All Star play. Avon's 9-10 All Star team continued on to sectionals last year.

This time around, Avon advances after defeating Canton 7-2 Monday.

Steve "Dober" Harris, the team's coach, wrote to Patch that "Dylan Nastri pitched well," going five and two-thirds innings and "striking out ten Canton batters."

"Connor Harris came in to record the last out, as Avon advanced to the district final," Harris wrote. "The entire team hit the ball well in the later innings and took advantage of some solid base running and to push across seven runs holding Canton to just two."

The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Sperry Park in Avon.

The assistant coaches are Jim Nastri, Chris Moore and Ron Theriault.
