Avon Field Hockey Teams Play in Memory of Coach Martin

Avon varsity and junior varsity field hockey team is joining the high school soccer program for spirit week in playing for an Avon Middle School teacher who died last week of cancer

Colleen Martin was a physical education teacher at the middle school who taught many of Avon High's athletes at one point. She also coached many of the girls on the middle school field hockey team.

Both teams are playing Suffield at the high school, starting off with the JV team at 5:15 p.m., followed by the varsity squad under the lights at 7 p.m.

The varsity field hockey team goes into the game with an 8-2-2. Players will be selling baked goods on the sidelines to benefit the Colleen Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund and breast cancer awareness.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.
