Avon High School Soccer Coach Retires

The Avon High School boys varsity soccer coach has resigned, school athletic officials confirmed Friday.

It is unclear at this time who will replace Patrick Mulligan and take over the program in the fall.

"Patrick has decided to retire due to wanting to spend more time with his family," Avon Athletic Coordinator Newell Porch wrote in an email to Patch.

Mulligan "resigned a few weeks ago," Porch said.

"We have not appointed a coach as yet [sic] and hope to by next week sometime," he said Friday.

Mulligan is also a teacher at Avon Middle School and officials have not said whether the retirement also applies to his teaching job. He took a leave of absence earlier this year for family reasons, officials previously confirmed.

Mulligan could not be reached for comment as of Friday evening.
