Football

  • The Avon High School varsity football team lost in an away game 26-21 to Coventry/Windham Tech on Sept. 23.

Boys Soccer

  • The boys varsity soccer team 0-0 away on Sept. 20
  • The Falcons shut out Enfield 7-0 away on Sept. 21

Girls Soccer

  • The girls varsity soccer team on Sept. 20. The last time Granby beat Avon was in 1999.
  • The Falcons at Fisher Meadows on Sept. 21.

Volleyball

Field Hockey

  • The Avon girls varsity field hockey team won 2-1 against Canton High School away on Sept. 20.
  • The Falcons on Sept. 22 in a home game.

Girls Cross Country

  • Avon girls varsity cross country beat Ellington and Granby in Division I and II races on Sept. 20 in a dual meet at Ellington High School. Sophomores Rachel Rosow (19:06) and Sara Stokesbury (19:40), who have been the top two runners for Avon this season, finished first and second, respectively in the 2.9-mile Division 1 race.
  • The girls took second at the Going to the Sun Cross Country Invitational at Coginchaug Regional High School on Sept. 21. Rosow won the girls varsity race, finishing in 19:35.27. Stokesbury came in fifth at 20:41.42.

Boys Cross Country

  • The Avon boys came in first for the Division 1 race and second in Division 2. Avon junior Jeff Demers took fourth at 17:01 and senior Sean Deneen finished in sixth at 17:15.
  • The team came in third in the Going to the Sun Invitational at Coginchaug on Sept. 21. Demers placed 12th, crossing the finish line in 18:05.61.
