Avon Native Named to Capitol One Academic All-District Soccer Team

Ben Applefield is a student at Brandeis University.

An Avon athlete is one of four Brandeis University soccer players to be chosen for the Capitol One Academic All-District soccer team, according to the university's website

Ben Applefield is a senior, captain and defender on the Brandeis team, according to the website. This season, he has scored two goals and made nine assists. Three of the assists happened in an iconic 6-0 victory against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sept. 25, according to the website. 

One of Applefield's goals was the game-winner in a 4-0 win against Case Western Reserve University on Oct. 5 and his assist in the game contributed to one of the other three goals, the website states.

When he was a junior, he was given an honorable mention for All-UAA, according to the website. In addition to six goals and 18 assists in his college soccer career, Applefield strives academically,maintaining a 3.65 grade-point average in his history studies, earning Academic All-UAA honors, being named to the Dean's List and studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain this past spring, the website states.
