Avon Swimmer Performs at National Championships

Former Avon High School swimmer Madison Kennedy won B division.

Avon resident Madison Kennedy placed ninth in the 50 meter freestyle at the U.S. national championships last week, according to the Collinsville Press.

Despite being the fourth seed, Kennedy placed ninth in the preliminary round, the Collinsville Press reported. Only the top eight swimmers competed in the final.

Kennedy won the B division final later with a time of 25.32 to earn a ninth-place finish overall.

An accomplished swimmer in high school, Kennedy still holds several records from the Splash Classic, the de facto state meet for girls who compete on boys swim teams in the winter.
