Avon High School Booster Club hosts Falcon 5k

Area runners, walkers and sports fans are cordially invited to the 2012 Avon Booster Club Falcon 5k Run/Walk event on Sunday, September 23rd, 9:00 a.m., at Avon High School.

The Falcon 5k raises funds for, and awareness about, the Avon Booster Club, which aids and assists in the development and enhancement of Avon athletic programs by covering the costs of much-needed equipment and resources for the sports teams.

All proceeds from the Falcon 5k directly support AHS athletes and teams, which, in these lean times, have come to rely on the club’s generosity to provide essentials not covered by the budget or by parent ‘pay to play’ fees. Last year, the Avon Booster Club funded such important items as: a Field Hockey scoreboard, a Football hydration unit, and starting blocks for Track & Field.  A growing list of similar essentials is up for consideration this year.

A sell-out crowd of fans and runners from throughout the area is expected to attend this year’s event, which is generously sponsored by local businesses, vendors and boosters.  Please support your local Booster Club by signing up as a runner or walker at https://register.thelastmileracing.com or by coming to the AHS track on Sunday, September 23rd at 9:00 a.m. to cheer on your neighbors and friends.  For more information about the Falcon 5k, please contact Jeff at jeff.molson@comcast.net
