Former Farmington High All-State goalkeeper Matt Sangeloty will lead the Connecticut Football Club Azul into a June 2 match against the GPS Portland Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. at Tunxis Mead in Farmington.

Sangeloty, who plays collegiately at UConn, is 2-0-2 since taking over in net from Greg Cumpstone. He has 10 saves on the season and comes into the game against Portland with back-to-back shutouts.

CFC Azul, which stands at 2-1-2 in its first season, plays in the Northeast Division of the Premier Development League. The PDL, under the auspices of the United Soccer Leagues Network, is a primary source of talent for Major League Soccer.

CFC Azul features some of the best college players in Connecticut including a trio from the University of Hartford, three from Southern Connecticut State, four from Central Connecticut State and two from UConn. Eighteen of the 26 players are state natives and range from Cromwell to Killingworth to Wilton.

Former New England Revolution midfielder Ryan Kinne of Naugatuck leads the team in scoring (6 goals, 13 points).

While CFC Azul is playing its home games at several locations around the state this year, the team is searching for a more permanent home field for 2013. Azul will return to Farmington Saturday, June 16 to take on the Western Mass Pioneers at 7:30 p.m.

Azul and Portland played to a 1-1 draw on May 19.
