Michael Rosano Golf Tournament

LifeChoice Donor Services (“LifeChoice”), the local federally designated organ procurement organization, will hold the 15th Annual Michael C. Rosano Golf Tournament on Sunday, July 15th at Blue Fox Run Golf Course in Avon to continue to raise awareness of the need for more people to become registered organ and tissue donors.  Over 20 years ago, Michael Rosano’s kidneys failed permanently after complications from contracting E-coli. After enduring 6 months in the hospital’s intensive care unit and two years on dialysis, Rosano received a kidney transplant.

Thanks to the generosity of a donor, Rosano is alive and eager to help others understand the importance of becoming a donor. Rosano says, ”As a volunteer for LifeChoice, I have reached out to the community by providing information at health fairs, giving presentations to the public as well as hosting this golf tournament.” With over 110,000 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant, there is a growing need for the community to learn the facts about donation and to join the Donor Registry at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The proceeds from last year’s tournament supported a statewide project with the Department of Motor Vehicles to supply all license renewal mailings with a full color insert featuring facts about organ and tissue donation.

LifeChoice looks forward to making this tournament this best yet with plenty of raffle prizes, strong community support and returning golfers. “We appreciate seeing friendly faces year after year and welcoming new participants—it’s always been a great day to gather together for an important cause,” says Deborah Savaria, Executive Director, LifeChoice.

Former popular radio personality and heart recipient, Beth Bradley, will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.  The tournament will include a 4-person scramble, barbeque lunch, a well-stocked raffle and an awards reception with dinner following golf. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit LifeChoice Donor Services and efforts to provide excellent donor family support, community outreach and clinical partnerships.
