Two Avon Soccer Players Earn All-University Athletic Association Honors

Conor Lanahan and Ben Applefield play soccer at Brandeis University.

Two soccer players from Avon are excelling at the college level for the Brandeis University team.

Avon's Ben Applefield, a senior captain and defender on the Brandeis team, and Conor Lanahan, a sophomore, have been named All-University Athletic Association, according to the Brandeis website

Applefield scored two goals and made nine assists this season, according to the university's website. Lanahan also notched two goals.

"Lanahan had big shoes to fill in his first season as a starter," the website states. "The sophomore replaced Joe Eisenbies, a first-team All-UAA selection last season and the heart of the Brandeis defense. Lanahan performed admirably, scoring twice and leading a back line that tied for a league-best nine shutouts."
