Avon Little League Makes History: First District 6 Team In Connecticut Championship Since 1998

The U-12 boys lost in the second of a three-game series, meaning their opponent, Fairfield American will represent Connecticut at the regional level in Bristol.

The Avon U-12 Mission III All Stars had a chance Sunday night to push the Connecticut Little League championship to a third deciding game, but Fairfield American .

The 10-0 victory for Fairfield American in the second game of the championship series means that Avon's opponent will represent Connecticut at the regional series in Bristol, according to Avon assistant coach Chris Moore.

Despite the losses, qualifying for the state championship meant something more for Avon. The Mission III All Stars is the first District 6 team to make the state finals since 1998, Moore said. The last district team was from Simsbury, which won that year.

This was only Avon's second loss in after a 13-game undefeated streak prior to this weekend's finals.
