Avon Little League Mission All Stars Compete in Cooperstown All Star Village

Congratulations to the Avon Little League Mission All Stars for competing in Cooperstown All Star Village in New York two weeks ago!

The following was submitted by coach Stephen Harris about the experience:

Playing against teams from all over the country the Mission All Stars went four and four in tournament and advanced into the final 16 round before losing to a strong team from Long Beach California 13-9.

Avon jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first. Avon hit five home runs in the game two by Sam Leopold - one each by Dylan Nastri - Connor Harris - and Ryan Ollestad.

Jack Stokesbury led the team in hits for the week as he bunted and hit the ball well for the entire tournament.

The Mission All Stars hit an impressive nine long home runs in the tournament three each by Sam Leopold and Dylan Nastri two by Connor Harris including a blast over the green monster field and one by Ryan Ollestad.

It was an amazing week for al the players - the coaches and all the fans that were able to participate.  

It concluded long summer of baseball for the Mission All Stars from Avon. Over the last three years the Mission All Stars have been on an historic and impressive run setting a new bar for those to follow.

Over the last three years the Mission team has won 29 Little League All Star games including three straight district six campionships - two straight Section II titles- and two State final appearences.

This past summer the team went an impressive 13-0 before losing two staight to Fairfield American - who went on all the way to the final four in the country at the Little League Worlds Series.  

The majority of the Mission players will move on together to play as the CT Mission competing as an AAU baseball club going forward. The club will participate in 50-70 tournaments this fall and move up to the big diamond in the spring.
