Cool Ways People Beat the Heat in Avon [Video]

Temperatures may be rising to the high 90s on Tuesday, but people are cooling down in Avon in many ways.

Some, like Kristen and Jack Barry, of West Hartford, took to the Farmington River in Avon on July 16. near an entry point by Nassau's Furniture off of Route 10. The two threw a ball around.

Others beat the heat by dancing to the beat in a Zumba class in the air-conditioned . Many came inside for a water break while walking on nearby trails.

Many families were at the Sycamore Hills public pool in Avon, nextdoor to the senior center on West Avon Road. Bolder kids and teens took a plunge and jumped off the diving board into the water creating big splashes.

Melissa Brady and her family are new to Avon and her girls, Madison, 4, and Brooke, 2, were making new friends in the kiddie pool there. One of them was Calli Santucci, 2, of Manchester, who came with her grandmother, Michelle Ciment, of Avon.
