Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Connecticut

The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are likely in the state until 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Avon area and the entire state until 9 p.m. Friday. Flash thunderstorms and scattered showers are expected to roll into the area. 

There is a 30 percent chance of precipitation this afternoon with winds around seven miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. 

The risk of showers and thunderstorms rises to about 60 percent Friday evening, mainly between 10 p.m. and midnight. Those storms are expected to produce gusty winds, heavy rain and lightning, according to the National Weather Service.
