Greek Your Diet, Day 9: Vegetables and Fruits
Eat a wide variety of colored vegetables and fruits every day (veggies more than fruits)
Eat a wide variety of colored vegetables and fruits every day (veggies more than fruits). Get 5-7 (or more) servings of greens, yellows, reds, purples, oranges, etc. These foods contain phytonutrients, a broad classification of substances that assist in biological processes in our bodies.
Vegetables should be steamed, sauteed in olive oil, or roasted. Boiling leeches out a lot of the healthy compounds, and unless you want to drink the water you used for boiling, you lose a lot of the nutritional value of the food.
