Dal is a simple and healthy Indian dish that can be made with any number of spices. Here's how I made mine. Rinse 3 cups of red lentils. Sautee a yellow onion for 10 minutes in oil. Add 4 cloves minced garlic and an inch of minced ginger for 2 minutes with spices such as turmeric, cardamom, cumin, and coriander. Throw it all in the slow cooker on low for three hours.

For the chicken I used the same spices in yogurt as a marinade and baked for 40 minutes (or until cooked through) at 450 F over a bed of red onion slices.

The sauce on top is just yogurt, chopped cilantro and fresh lemon juice.
