Indian Diet, Day 4: Ginger

One easy to incorporate ingredient in Indian food is ginger.

I can't stress enough that when we talk about these regional diets, we're talking about home cooked meals using the ingredients and methods of another culture, not necessarily restaurant food (although healthy options do exist).

One easy to incorporate ingredient in Indian food is ginger. Known for it's anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties, ginger is best used fresh and grated in cooking.

Ginger tea can also help soothe an upset stomach or as an immune boost:
Bring 4 cups water to a boil, add a 2-inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Strain and add a lemon slice. That was easy.
