One of the most important things you can do to minimize low back pain is to maintain proper posture. This is particularly important when picking up large items because this simple act can increase your rick for injury greatly. You might think that bending over a few times and doing dead lifts won't affect your back, most likely until it is too late. However, if you keep your back straight and squat while picking something up off the floor your much less likely to injure yourself.
