For every meal try to make it a “Happy Plate.” This is where 50% are vegetables, 25% lean protein and 25% starch.
Examples of lean protein are chicken without the skin, turkey, buffalo, pork and fish.
Examples of starch are quinoa, brown or black rice, whole grain bread, etc.
As for vegetables, the more colors the better. Steam them or enjoy a large salad.
