Take Two Jazz Duo remembers Peggy Lee & Cole Porter May 17th at Trinity-on-Main

Jazz pianist, John Brighenti, and jazz vocalist, Erin O'Luanaigh, will perform the music of Peggy Lee and Cole Porter on May 17th at Trinity-on-Main in New Britain.

If you love the songs made famous by Peggy Lee, and those written by Cole Porter, then you will want to hear the Take Two Jazz Duo honor their memories with a selection of their hits on May 17th at Trinity-on-Main in New Britain.

Although Peggy Lee is remembered by many of us for "He's A Tramp", "Fever" and "Is That All There Is", she was a famous songstress of the 1940s, recording hits as "Why Don't You Do Right?", "Mañana (Is Soon Enough for Me)", "Golden Earrings", and countless others.

Cole Porter achieved success with his musicals on Broadway by the 1930s, with a career continuing well into the 1950s, including "Kiss Me, Kate", "Fifty Million Frenchmen", "DuBarry Was a Lady", "Anything Goes", "Can-Can" and "Silk Stockings". His numerous hit songs include "Night and Day", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Well, Did You Evah!", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" and "You're the Top".

Porter also composed scores for films, including "Born to Dance", which featured the songs "You'd Be So Easy to Love" and "I've Got You Under My Skin"; "Rosalie", which featured "In the Still of the Night"; "High Society", which included "True Love"; and Les Girls.

The Take Two Jazz Duo features John Brighenti on piano and Erin O'Luanaigh as the vocalist.  John has performed with numerous lounge groups, jazz ensembles, vocalists, and orchestras, including those of Glenn Miller, Eddie Howard, Al Gentile, Paul Landerman, and Chic Chicetti.  Erin O'Luanaigh's vocal style evokes such jazz greats as Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan, Anita O'Day, and Nancy Wilson.

John Brighenti recently released a CD, "Swinging on a Sunday Afternoon", performing a dozen jazz standards, including "Take the A Train", "A Night in Tunisia", "St. Thomas", "Killer Joe", and "A Foggy Day".   Erin O'Luanaigh provides the vocals to the standards, "Lullaby of Birdland", "Whisper Not", "My Romance", and "How Long Has This Been Going On".

Trinity-on-Main is central Connecticut's premier venue for live performances and events.  It presents everything from rock concerts and stand up comedy to live opera and civic events.  It is located at 69 Main Street in New Britain.  The tribute to Peggy Lee and Cole Porter is scheduled to start at 7 PM.
