Avon VFW Honors Its Vietnam Veterans

Our VFW Post sponsored an special event on Saturday, 23 February to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the onset of the Vietnam War (1962). We invited Post Members and their guests to a brunch at the Farmington Woods Clubhouse and honored our Vietnam Veterans. There were exhibits of Vietnam maps, books, uniforms, equipment and Vietnam Veteran Histories on display. The theme for this event was "Our Service In Vietnam." This is the first time that our Post has honored its Vietnam Veteran with such an event. Our Post currently has 60 Vietnam Vets who have served in a broad array of assignments throughout that long war. We will be having an expanded exhibit for the public in September and October 2013 at the Avon Public Library. Post Vietnam Veterans will be on hand to explain their duties and answer questions at this upcoming event.
