Avon VFW Seeks New Members

Avon VFW Seeking Local Veterans as New Members. Outlines the focus of the Post, opportunities to meet current members and evaluate the organization.

As an active Post, the Avon VFW is always looking for new members. Currently, we have 185 veterans from all wars - from WWII to Afghanistan! We are a All-State VFW Post (based upon our membership & community activities) and have been active in Avon since 1945. Our focus in on community service (i.e. Avon Schools, Canton Schools, Memorial Day Parade, Veterans Day Services, flag retirement services, decorating veterans' graves, & honor guards at veterans' funerals, etc) and strong veterans' support  (i.e. Annual Poppy Drives, visit sick vets, fruit baskets for hospitalized vets, weaths for veterans' funerals, etc.) We have veterans from all local communities as members - ask any of them what they think of our Post!

We meet each Thursday morning at 10am for coffee at Friendly's on Route 44 in Avon and monthly for dinner at the Italian Club at 32 Olds Farms Rd. in Avon - our next meeting is Wednesday, January 25th at 6pm.

As Members of Foreign Wars, we welcome all veterans who have served overseas in a war zone. If you are interested in us, please visit us at Friendly's any Thursday morning or Wednesday evening (Jan 25th) at the Italian Club.
