Avon High School

Avon High School is located on West Avon Road, down the street from Avon Middle School. The high school ranked first for academics in <em><a href="http://www.hartfordmag.com/TopSchools/index.html">Hartford Magazine's</a> </em>list of the top schools in Connecticut, based on data from 2007. According to Hartford Magazine, out of all of the schools in Connecticut, Avon had the most students enrolled in extra credit courses in arts, language and social studies. Avon students also averaged second highest on the SATs in 2007, according to the study and the second highest graduation rate at 99.5%.  The outdoor track on the facility is a draw for many people from the community. <a href="http://www.avon.k12.ct.us/avonhigh/athletics/Teams.asp">Sports teams</a> and <a href="http://www.avon.k12.ct.us/page.asp?PageID=17">extracurricular activities</a> are listed on the school website, as well as the vast courses and AP options. In addition to the traditional courses, Avon High School also offers Greek, Spanish, French, Latin, broadcast journalism, media ethics, forensics, marine science and independent study.
