In 1947, students of all grades went to one-room schoolhouses called towpath schools. Pine Grove, one of seven towpath schools in Avon, sits across from what is now Avon High School on West Avon Rd. The district has grown to incorporate five schools, including the high school, Avon Middle School, Pine Grove Elementary School, Roaring Brook Elementary School, and Thompson Brook Upper Elementary School. The Avon Board of Education and Administrative Offices are located off of Rte. 10, near Avon Congregational Church, a town baseball field and Healthtrax Health and Wellness Center. Board of Education meetings are at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month in the Avon High School Community Room. Jody Goeler, former assistant superintendent, is serving as interim superintendent until a superintendent is hired.
