Avon Volunteer Fire Department Company One is the administrative headquarters for the four fire stations in Avon. It wasMore established in 1973 and is stationed at 25 Darling Drive. One full-time and one part-time employee work at the headquarters and are assisted by volunteers. The primary role of the fire department administration is working with computer software, as well as recording members' attendance at fire calls, participating in training sessions and meetings,  keeping inventories of fire gear, equipment and apparatus, recoring regulations and meeting minutes and preparing the necessary date to meet town, state and federal regulations. The Avon Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD): Company Two station on Secret Lake Road is the oldest station in theMore Department. Until 1943, the Department, formally known as the Secret Lake Association, served Avon and Canton residents. The Association was incorporated into the AVFD that year. Engines 10 and 11 are housed there, and the Department services District One, which are the northern and western parts of Avon.

Located down the road from the Avon Volunteer Fire Department Company Four station and the Avon Landfill, this park isMore open dawn to dusk for picnicking, walks and enjoyment of nature. In 1968, The town Lion's Club donated the lake, as well as the footbridge that overlooks a waterfall. Guests can reserve a building on the property for classes, non-profit public meetings and private groups. The building, which can fit 35 people, features a full kitchen, fireplace, air conditioning and access to boat docks.
