Avon Lions Club, Neighbor

Avon locals were aware of Lionism and decided to establish a club in 1951. Raymond Zacchera was the first president and served for two years, followed by Robert August. James Work, George Malloy and G. Ted Manion succeded in that order.

"We Serve" is our motto. Lionism was challenge3d early on to be "knights of the blind" by Helen Keller. And so we sponsor vision related efforts. They been extended from vision testing, eyeglass collection to raising funds for JDRF and eradicating measles.
