Farmington Woods Promotes George

Farmington Woods Golf Club is pleased to announce the promotion of George DeVita from Head PGA Professional to Director of Golf and Head PGA Professional. A PGA member since 2007, George has served as the Head Pro for Farmington Woods for the past three seasons. George is a Farmington native and founder and partner with Suzy Whaley LPGA/PGA of PE2Tee, a nationally recognized golf in schools program. Recognized by industry leaders and PGA Professionals, George has been nominated for CT PGA Section Junior Golf Leader and Teacher of the Year. He has been published and honored for industry-leading best practices in Golfer Development and was recently awarded a US Kids Top 50 Teacher honorable mention. He currently serves as the Varsity Girls Golf Coach for Farmington HS. George’s prior experience includes the famous Muirfield Village in Ohio, designed by the renowned Desmond Muirhead, designer also of the Farmington Woods course. There George was the lead assistant golf professional at this Jack Nicklaus course, responsible for running club events, merchandise sales, and helping to develop Nicklaus Fitting Solutions. At the Country Club of Farmington, George served as the assistant and lead instructor for lessons and golfer development. Through community outreach and efforts to market Farmington Woods, George has successfully brought in over 55 new members in three years, secured corporate relationships and business agreements and attracted numerous new outings and business leads for the club. “As the Director of Golf, George will continue to oversee the golf operations, and will also be responsible for developing core membership value as well as driving new business for the club,” explained General Manager, Bob Elwood. “In an era when club memberships and business have been struggling, Farmington Woods has seen an increase since George began as Head Professional in 2010.” Farmington Woods is a gated community of 1084 attached and free-standing condominiums located within the towns of Avon and Farmington.
