Avon Field Hockey Plays for a Cause and a former Coach

This Thursday, October 24th, the Avon High School Girls Field Hockey team will be playing for a cause and for their former coach, Avon Middle School physical education teacher and field hockey coach, Colleen Martin, who passed away last week after a brief illness. The girls will play ‘under the lights’ at the high school as part of the school’s spirit week and in honor of a coach and teacher who touched them all.

The AHS Field Hockey team is a regular winner of the NCC Conference Championships and participant in the Connecticut State Tournament.  Their record, to date, is 8-2-2.  Gates open at 5:00 and game admission is $5 adults, $3 children and seniors. The Varsity girls will face off against Suffield at 7:00 p.m. and the Junior Varsity girls will play at 5:15pm.

Parents and friends of Avon Field Hockey will host a sideline bake sale, the proceeds of which will support The Colleen Martin Memorial Scholarship Fund and Breast Cancer Awareness. Individual donations will also be accepted.
