Avon Business Buzz: What Could Replace Trattoria Il Trullo?

Here's the latest in Avon business news:

• A new restaurant named The Local Grill could be replacing Trattoria Il Trullo in Riverdale Farms. The business is listed under "other business" on the Avon Planning and Zoning agenda for Tuesday July 16 at 7:30 p.m. It is unclear at this time how far along the restaurant is in the process.

• The Capitol Region Education Council is looking to extend its use of 20 Security Drive by three years to temporarily house the Academy of the Arts Elementary School. The site, owned by businessman and former 5th Congressional District Candidate Mark Greenberg, currently is where Reggio Magnet School of the Arts operates. CREC Executive Director Bruce Douglas wrote in an email to Patch that the school is "outgrowing its temporary space in Bloomfield." As for Reggio, the construction of its future site on Waterville Road is on schedule and the school is set to open in January 2014, he said.
