The Leo Boswell Memorial Worship series at the Avon Congregational Church presents a special worship service on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. The “Celtic” service will feature Celtic music and symbols, celebrating the religious traditions of Scotland and Ireland. Christmas music will be included, as Epiphany celebrates the arrival of the Wise Men.

The guest performance group “Celticity” specializes in Celtic folk and acoustic music from Ireland and Scotland, performed on traditional instruments. The service will celebrate hymns and inspirational songs that are derived from Celtic folk tunes as well as traditional jigs and reels. Said Pastor Martha Chenault, “We welcome the community to join us every Sunday for worship, and especially on this special day.”

The endowed Boswell Series, established in 2011, provides funds for the congregation to experience new worship formats, music, speakers, and media. It is named for Leo Boswell, a beloved church member of the Avon Congregational Church.
