Avon Business Buzz: New Furniture Store to Move into Former Nassau's Site

The latest in Avon business news.

Two furniture stores may have left Avon recently, but soon the town will gain another.

  • The Boyles Furniture & Rugs sign is up in the former Nassau's Furniture building at the corner of Route 44 and Route 10.
  • In case you missed it, sweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt and Moe's Southwest Grill are looking to move to the Shops at Dale Corner plaza near Cosi, Pier 1 Imports and Rite Aid. The applications are scheduled to be discussed at Tuesday's Planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall, Building One.
  • The Elephant Trail is planning to move to 85 East Main St., where Connecticut Home Interiors used to be. The popular Thai food restaurant is currently at 39 East Main St. in Avon Village Market Place, down the street on Route 44. The Elephant Trail has also applied for a liquor permit so the restaurant can serve wine and beer. That is scheduled to be discussed at Tuesday's Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. The move will likely happen by the end of the summer, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
  • Property owner Avon Village, LLC, of West Hartford, and LCB Senior Living, LLC, of Norwood, MA, have applied for permission from the Planning and Zoning Commission to build a senior living facility at 117 Simsbury Rd. The commission is scheduled to discuss the site plan application on Tuesday.
